Homework:
Snack:
Snack
day is share day. They may bring
one special item from home to share with the class.
The item they choose to share needs to fit into their backpack.
The day before your child’s snack day they will bring home the
special snack bucket. This will
work as a reminder for you and a fun way to tote the snack.
Discipline:
In keeping with the Love and
Logic philosophy students will be expected to not cause a problem for
themselves or others. If
something arises they will be expected to fix their problem.
Recess:
We do have recess every day.
We go outside for about 15 minutes.
Please be sure your child is dressed for the weather of the day.
Hats, gloves, scarves, and winter coats are essential for the winter
months.
PE:
On PE
day your students need to wear the appropriate clothing and shoes (running
type shoes.) Please no sandals or high heeled shoes they are not safe.
We want them to have a fun and safe time at PE.
Communication:
There
are several ways that I will be communicating with you throughout the year.
The first way is through an e-mail.
I have very little “down” time and this is most efficient for me.
The next is notes on students work.
And finally, I will communicate with notes in your child’s folder.
Talk to me first before you
talk to other parents. This way
the communication is confidential, protects your child, and is a much more
effective way to have a quick resolution.
Birthdays:
I choose
to not celebrate birthdays in the classroom.
Starting in 1st grade they will have the opportunity to
celebrate on the last Friday of the month.
You may choose to send a special snack on their snack day.
I have put their names on the snack calendar either on their birth
date or on the day closest to it.
Please keep in mind the “no sugar” policy in choosing this special
snack.
Car Pooling:
I think
this is a great idea to save gas, time, and keep our air quality clean.
You will need to get the names of people in person or use the school
directory to obtain phone numbers.
Kindergarten is an exciting time in the life of a five year old.
Your student will make new friends, have new experiences, and most
importantly learn new skills.
Your student will also grow academically, physically, emotionally, and
socially by working and playing with other children.
My goal is to provide the best possible experience for your child by
providing a rich, fun, safe, and happy learning environment
I am a huge advocate of open, honest, and constructive communication. If a situation should arise it will be difficult for me to address that situation unless I am aware of it. If you should have any questions or concerns please contact me. My email address is awhite@compasscharter.org.
E-mail is the best way to contact me.
The school phone number is 855-2802. You
can call and leave a message for me. Which
ever way you choose to contact me, I return calls and answer emails after
school at the end of the day.
