My name is Toby Pinkerman. I teach Physical Education
and Intramural Sports at
Compass. I graduated from Northwest Nazarene College with a BA in
Kinesiology. I live in Meridian with my Wife, eight year old daughter, and
four year old son. My wife teaches 5th grade in the Boise District. My
daughter is in the third grade and my son is in preschool.
My hobbies include all sports, coaching my son's soccer
team, and golfing with my kids. I also like to ride my four-wheeler on the
weekends. My professional goals include earning a master's degree and
continuing to assist in the building of a strong physical education program
at Compass Public Charter school. I am eager and excited as Compass
increases in size and is able to
continue offering classes such as Intramural Sports to our student body. I
am an advocate of overall good health--mentally and physically. Students
need to learn how exercise, of any type, is an excellent resource for
improving self-confidence, managing stress and emotions, promoting teamwork,
encouraging a healthy amount of competitiveness, and offers opportunities
for pure fun. It has been proven that exercise is also an excellent
resource for students who are kinesthetic learners to maintain appropriate
behavior in the classroom when
kinesthetic learning isn't always an option.
I am grateful and fortunate to be a teacher at Compass Charter along with
all of the highly talented and qualified teachers who work with your
children. Compass Charter provides opportunities like no other, and I am
excited to be part of such a program.
